Named for the Pima Indians in the Southwest US. Because it is a long, smooth, strong fiber it is generally revered to be one of the best cottons in the world.

Also known as extra-long staple (ELS), Pima is a premium quality cotton that yields a high thread count, allowing for dense, soft and supple fabric. Primarily grow in Peru and the southwestern United States, Pima cotton is recognized for its superior softness, moisture absorbency, luster and durability over conventional cottons.

A  cross between Uplands and Egyptian cotton, this plant produces longer, more lustrous fibers than many American cottons. Pima Cotton is used for sheets and for silk-like quilting fabrics.
